Britney Spears Tour Gig 'So Cool,' DJ Pauly D Raves

'I'm an act — then Nicki Minaj, then Britney Spears,' the 'Jersey Shore' star tells MTV News in disbelief.

DJ Pauly D joined the Femme Fatale Tour on Monday night and got the crowd fist-pumping as one of the opening acts for Britney Spears' show. It was announced last month that the "Jersey Shore" star would be taking a break from Seaside Heights to hit the road with Brit for the remainder of her tour, and he kicked things off this week in Boston.

"It's so cool because I'm an actual act," Pauly D told MTV News a few days before Monday's tour date. "So, it's like DJ Pauly D goes on — I'm an act — then Nicki Minaj, then Britney Spears."

So how did Pauly D do in his big debut? Well, his tourmate Nicki Minaj took to Twitter after the concert and gave her rave review: "BOSTON why are u so EPIC right now?!??!!?! Like seriously???!??" Minaj tweeted. "(Pauly D KILlED it by the way!!!!)"

This is Pauly D's first time joining a major tour but he didn't think life on the road would be difficult to get used to. "I got my own tour bus now, it's all done," Pauly D said smiling. "My DJ booth is all done, it looks amazing, and I'm really excited. It's like a dream come true."

But if you're going to check out the concert, don't expect Pauly D to play any of Spears' classic songs. "A DJ should not play the artist's songs at her concert, 'cause she has to perform these songs," he told us earlier this year when he warmed up the crowd for Brit's Las Vegas show. "I'm not going to be playing any Britney before she performs; maybe after. I'll let her perform, let her shine, 'cause it's her night."

Although he won't open the show by playing her hits, the MTV star didn't rule out the possibility of joining Spears (who's a "Jersey Shore" fan!) onstage.

"Maybe, we'll see," Pauly said. "It would be really cool, though."

Beyonce's 'Best Thing I Never Had' Video Premieres

Clip for 4 single features B in a gorgeous ornate wedding dress.
By Kara Warner

Beyoncé in her "Best Thing I Never Had" music video

Anyone who's heard the two first singles off Beyoncé's new album, 4, knows they are about as different as night and day. The same can be said for the songs' music videos: Where "Run the World (Girls)" is fierce, upbeat and explosive, "Best Thing I Never Had" is also strong, but more subdued and slow.

The clip opens with Beyoncé in an elegant dressing room or boudoir. She is scantily, but very tastefully, clad in a fancy, lacy corset/lingerie combo, complete with garters. As she begins the song — co-written by Babyface and all about telling a former lover she was the best he'd ever have and that she no longer has any feelings for him — B plays to the camera, directing her words at the former lover via the camera's lens.

From there, she moves from playing with a tiara, a veil and lots of tulle on a bed to various stages of getting dressed. Between her half-dressed and fully dressed stages, there is a quick cut to old video footage of who viewers are to believe is a young Beyoncé and her former high school flame at their prom. B and her date are dancing, she is spun away briefly, and her date cozies up to another girl on the dance floor.

Now that we know what ended that romance, we follow a confident Beyoncé in her final preparations before she walks down the aisle on her wedding day. There are shots of Bey singing at sunset atop a grassy hill in a beautiful princess gown, followed by the walk down the aisle and the exchange of vows.

This is followed by one final shot of the former lover at the prom deep in thought, with what looks to be his prom king crown sitting askew on his head. Perhaps he is re-thinking his philandering ways?

The last few scenes of "Best Thing I Never Had" are full of more shots of Beyoncé's gorgeous dress, which will likely land on a few style blogs soon, given its embroidered and jeweled details, not to mention the silk bows and ruching on the sides. We see the newlyweds celebrating at a happy and well-attended reception: groom removing bride's garter with his teeth, dancing with their younger family members.

The final shot features Beyoncé looking into the camera, with a look of total satisfaction and happiness. She then walks off confidently, probably to re-join her wedding party and new husband, and then the screen fades to black.

'Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance' Trailer Is Flamin' Awesome

First trailer from the film has been released following a preview at last month's San Diego Comic-Con.
By Aubrey Sitterson

One of the most surprising things to come out of this year's San Diego Comic-Con was footage from "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance." Everyone knew that the film was roaring down the highway toward us, but no one expected it to actually look, well, good. After scenes from the movie were shown at the event, the Internet was abuzz with talk of fans finally getting the "Ghost Rider" movie they deserve. Now, you can see what all the fuss was about for yourself with the first trailer for the upcoming film.

Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" is the sequel to 2007's "Ghost Rider." The biker with the flaming-skull head has long been one of Marvel's darker and more twisted characters, especially considering his backstory as a motorcycle daredevil whose pact with the devil didn't turn out quite as he planned. As the Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze rides America's forgotten highways, meting out vengeance with his flaming bike, signature chain and a host of fire-based powers.

Like the 2007 film, "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" features Nicolas Cage, and the character boasts a whole new look that ties into the darkness at the Ghost Rider's core.

"The Ghost Rider is just the coolest-looking superhero, and it has to be the one that goes to film and looks the best," Cage told MTV News last month. "I think they've achieved that with this."

At the helm of "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" are Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine, the pair of directors best known for their high-octane flicks "Crank" and "Crank: High Voltage." The duo told MTV News that they were test-driving all-new techniques while filming the movie, including Neveldine strapping on Rollerblades and clinging to the back of a motorcycle just to get a single amazing shot.

That commitment to madness is clearly on display in the new trailer for "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance," as the movie looks to be fully embracing what makes the character so spectacularly over-the-top. Though it starts out slow, by the one-minute mark, you'll find yourself up to your leather jacket in explosive, flame-drenched action. Over the course of the trailer, you'll see the Ghost Rider take out cars with his chain, spit bullets at bad guys and even pee fire. Seriously — he actually pees fire, and it's absolutely awesome.

Rihanna Almost Wigs Out At 2010 VMAs In 'VMAs Revealed'

Find out what went down before the singer hit the stage with Eminem and other secrets on 'VMAs Revealed,' airing Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.

Rihanna surprised fans at the 2010 Video Music Awards when she hit the stage with Eminem to perform their track "Love the Way You Lie." At the time, Rihanna was in the midst of shooting her first-ever feature film, the action-packed "Battleship," in Hawaii, and there was a bit of a logistics problem in trying to get the flame-haired singer to the show.

While her fans were excited to see her hit the stage with Shady, a wardrobe mishap almost derailed her performance altogether. "The morning of the show, she flew in very, very early," Malika Quemerais, MTV coordinator of music and celebrity talent, tells us in "VMAs Revealed," a special that takes fans behind-the-scenes of some of the biggest moments from last year's VMAs.

Rihanna wanted her look to be just right and wanted her wig's red shade to perfectly fit the vibe she was going for. Unfortunately, that meant that it would require more work than planned.

"When the wig arrived, the wig was orange," celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephen said. "I'm telling you, bright orange, straight-up Nicki Minaj orange. And she's flipping out."

Want to know how it all worked out for Rihanna so that she could take the stage with Eminem? Check out "VMAs Revealed" this Saturday at 12 p.m. ET. The show will also look at Lady Gaga's unforgettable and controversial meat dress, 30 Seconds to Mars' unconventional white-carpet arrival and Chelsea Handler's big night as the show's host, when she got to hang out with Lindsay Lohan and last year's breakout star Justin Bieber.

The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT. See the list of nominees, revisit last year's highlights and vote for your favorites in the general categories by visiting VMA.MTV.com.

Lady Gaga Explains Mermaid Sex In 'Yoü And I' Video

'Well, that's actually part of what the metaphor is — you can't,' Gaga responds to a fan's question about how a mermaid has sex.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway

Lady Gaga packs a lot of visual punch into her "Yoü and I" video. She plays the piano, she plays a man named Jo Calderone, she furiously dances in a cornfield and a barn, and she even goes under some unusual procedures. The jarringly beautiful images include Gaga being transformed into many types of creatures by her mad scientist lover, including a mermaid called Yuyi.

Yuyi and the scientist don't just hang out together in his barnyard lab, they also get it on. The scene is borderline NSFW and includes Yuyi's and the scientist's bodies gyrating in rhythm with one another. That being said, is it even possible for a man and mermaid to, you know, have sex with one another?

"Well, that's actually part of what the metaphor is — you can't," Gaga told an inquiring fan during her "MTV First: Lady Gaga" special on Thursday night, when she not only debuted the video on TV for the first time, but also revealed that she's going to open the 2011 Video Music Awards on August 28, where she's up for four nominations.

"Sometimes in love, you can't make it work," she continued about that particular scene. "No matter what you do, there's this giant boundary between you and someone else. So that's what it's about, perceiving in your imagination that there's something magical inside of you that you can make it work."

It's a real-life former love that has left an indelible mark on Gaga's creative spirit, and she says that this video perfectly captures that. "For me, it was all about capturing the true spirit of the song, which is when you're in love, you'll be willing to walk and do the craziest and most inconvenient things you can possibly imagine," she added. "The video is quite complex in the way that the story is told, and it's meant to be slightly linear and slightly twisted and confusing, which is the way that love is."

Anne Hathaway Talks Pressures Of Adapting 'One Day'

Actress tells MTV News she saw people reading book all over London during filming.
By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Anne Hathaway knows you have your doubts about her, but she's ready to impress you with "One Day."

The actress is no stranger to adapting well-loved literature to the big screen, having starred in "The Princess Diaries" and "Brokeback Mountain." But having to speak in an English accent and co-helm a romance novel that fans were so protective of certainly put the pressure on when she was filming "One Day."

Fortunately, the response from fans has been positive so far. MTV News caught up with Hathaway and her co-star Jim Sturgess recently, and "The Dark Knight Rises" actress said that people have received her performance in the flick positively.

"I've had people come up to me who have seen it actually and they say, 'I didn't think you could pull it off.' And people feel inclined to tell me that they really had no faith in me whatsoever," she said with a laugh. "So far, it's ended with a, 'But you surprised me, and I really enjoyed your performance.' But I'm just waiting for that person to come up and say, 'Well I knew you couldn't do it.' "

She added that the pressure was amplified by the fact that when she and Sturgess were filming in London, Hathaway saw people all across the city reading the book. The cover of the novel's U.K. edition is orange, and Hathaway said it would freak her out to see "One Day" so prominently featured in every bookstore she walked into.

"At night, it kind of lights the streets of London," Sturgess joked.

People who want to walk into "One Day" spoiler-free might not be too psyched to hear that both Hathaway and Sturgess say they prefer "ill-fated, tear-inducing" romantic films as opposed to ones that end happily ever after. That news certainly doesn't bode well for the love story between their onscreen characters.

While Sturgess said he feels that way because he's "just cynical," Hathaway explained that she feels tragic romantic stories stay with a person longer.

"If something's happily ever after, yay, you're happy for them, but what else do you feel about it? When something rips your guts out, you're more inclined to remember it," she explained.

Check out everything we've got on "One Day."

Jeff Buckley Biopic Finds Lead In 'Spider-Man' Actor Reeve Carney

Carney lands role in one of three films reportedly being made about the late singer's life.
By Jocelyn Vena

Penn Badgley may have landed the Jeff Buckley role in "Greetings From Tim Buckley," but "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" star Reeve Carney has landed the role in yet another film based on the musician's life.

Carney is set to star in a still-untitled film about the "Last Goodbye" singer. It's set to begin production this November and is being helmed by "Welcome to the Rileys" director Jake Scott, who noted that Carney has "the perfect combination of musical prodigy, impish charm, innate intelligence and sensitivity to play Jeff." Carney will do all his own singing.

Buckley's mom, Mary Guibert, will also be involved in production, Deadline.com reports. The film's production has been granted rights to use Buckley's music and archives, and they have also been given rights by Sony to use "Hallelujah," the Leonard Cohen song that Buckley famously covered. "The Rocker" scribe, Ryan Jaffe, will man the script based on the book "Dream Brother: The Lives and Music of Jeff and Tim Buckley" by David Browne.

For some time, "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson had been attached to one of the Buckley roles, but now that both films have found their leads, it seems unlikely that the Hollywood star will get to show off his singing chops in an adaptation of the singer's life. However, Deadline.com notes that a third Buckley biopic is in the works. That one is based on the book "A Pure Drop: The Life of Jeff Buckley" and is being directed by Brendan Fletcher.

A California native, Buckley rose to fame in the 1990s in New York City and recorded only one studio album, Grace, before his untimely death. He was the son of singer/songwriter Tim Buckley. During his lifetime, his moody, romantic tracks paired with his signature voice established him as one of the go-to singer/songwriters of his generation. His trademark songs include "Last Goodbye" and "Hallelujah." He was just 30 years old when he drowned in a river in 1997.
