Seven doctors who treated the late Michael Jackson will not be charged in the singer's death. According to The Associated Press California officials said Wednesday (July 28) that they will not file charges against the doctors who were under scrutiny as part of an investigation launched by the state's Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement.
Jackson passed away in June 2009 after suffering cardiac arrest. His personal doctor Conrad Murray — who was not one of the seven doctors included in the investigation — has been charged in his death and pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter after allegedly giving the star the potent anesthetic propofol.
"I am very disappointed," said Brian Oxman, an attorney for Michael Jackson's father Joe Jackson. "The misuse of medications by Michael Jackson in the last years of his life was excessive and to fail to bring that to the public eye is ignoring reality." Oxman is serving as Joe Jackson's lawyer in a wrongful death suit against Murray.
Bureau spokesperson Christine Gasparac told the AP that one of the doctors who was under investigation was referred to the California Medical Board for prescribing drugs to one of Jackson's aliases, however, a spokesperson for the board did not confirm the referral. A spokesperson for the Drug Enforcement Agency told the AP that it has also dropped its investigation into Jackson's doctors.
Murray lawyer Ed Chernoff has maintained that the doctor did not administer a fatal dose of propofol and has suggested that either Jackson gave himself the anesthetic or another person may have supplied the late star with the dose. However, an anesthesia expert has said the possibility of Jackson administering the drug himself is unlikely.
A preliminary hearing in the Jackson manslaughter case is slated for August and Murray faces a sentence of up to four years in jail.

The final piece of Justin Bieber's movie-poster puzzle was finally posted, and it reveals that his highly anticipated 3-D flick will be called "Never Say Never," the name of his song featured on the "Karate Kid" soundtrack.
After fans were sent on a two-day-long Internet scavenger hunt for all the pieces to the puzzle, the final piece was tweeted by @USAToday early Friday morning, and the whole poster appears in Friday's edition of USA Today. The poster features Bieber dressed in his signature varsity jacket and proudly displaying his swooping bangs from under a hood. Across the center is the newly announced title of the movie, as well as the information that it will hit your local Cineplex this February.
The director also posted a video of fans singing "Baby" as pieces of the puzzle slowly came together. "It's from one of his songs," Chu explained about the flick's title inspiration. "But also the idea of every moment in his life."
MTV News caught up with Chu over the summer and he revealed some details about Bieber's highly anticipated movie. "[It's] a movie for his fans, a movie for people who don't know him, and we're gonna tell the underdog story of where he came from," he explained. "Because it's a really fascinating story and it has a lot to do with our sort of digital lifestyle now. He was able to do what corporations try to do now when they use YouTube and they don't even know what to do with it yet. It's a pretty cool story for our time."
And while Bieber kept the details close to his chest when he caught up with us at the VMAs last month, he did seem excited by the film. "We're in the middle [of it now]," he dished. "You're gonna see a lot of cool stuff! 3-D, 3-D!"

Kanye West Calls Bon Iver Track 'Crescendo' For 'Runaway' Film
'Lost in the World' features 'my favorite eight bars that I've ever written in my life,' Yeezy tells MTV News.
By Jayson Rodriguez
Although the short film Kanye West is set to premiere on Saturday is being billed as "Runaway," nine songs (including the title track) play throughout the 35-minute clip, and the entire collection appears on the rapper's forthcoming My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
The previously released tracks "Power" and "Devil in a New Dress" managed to make it into the production, as did the leaked Bon Iver-assisted track "Lost in the World." (Editor's note: Spoiler follows.) The Bon Iver number serves as the final musical palette in the short film, the last track on Dark Twisted Fantasy and, according to West, the weighty message of the song struck the proper emotional chord for the closing scene.
Help Save-A-Pet!
I've mentioned this before, but my mom volunteers at Save-A-Pet, a no-kill animal shelter in Illinois. Like many charities, they're currently having financial difficulties and might have to close their doors unless they receive more donations. Here's a link to a message regarding their financial situation.
If you can donate anything—even just one dollar—it would be greatly appreciated. They've been around for almost 40 years and are currently home to almost 300 animals. Here are some photos I took last time I was there:
He was my favorite, Jax. I would take him home if I could, but he needs to be the only animal in the house.
All the cats stay in the same room and have "kitty condos."
"I also only have three legs, but I'm doing fine!"
Every dog gets to go outside and play every day.
Please help if you can! Thank you!

Kanye West Will Take Fans' Twitter Questions After 'Runaway' Debut
After 35-minute short premieres on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, use the hashtag #askkanye to probe West during a live Q&A on MTV and MTV.com.
By Jayson Rodriguez
If Kanye West is nothing else, he is a complex MC. For his latest visual, "Runaway," the rapper directed a 35-minute short film that tells the story of a fallen phoenix. The video is awe-inspiring, puzzling, celebratory, dark, anything you can think — except simple.
After the clip premieres this weekend, however, viewers will have the chance to ask the man himself, Kanye West, about the vision behind the project. West will sit down with MTV News' Sway and take Twitter questions from fans using the hashtag #askkanye. The interview is set for Saturday, October 23, and will broadcast live on MTV and MTV.com immediately after the debut airing of "Runaway" at 8 p.m. ET.
The Chicago lyricist has been screening the short film around the world, first overseas in London and Paris and this past week, Stateside, in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. After the L.A. premiere, Kanye spoke with MTV News about the protagonist in the film, the fallen phoenix, and how it relates to his own journey.
"I love characters in general, but [I loved] how colorful the bird is and just the design, it's just something I would've picked or drawn as a 5-year-old," West explained. "It definitely relates to everything that I've been through, like, burning to the ashes and rebuilding and becoming a better person and delivering better product."
In addition to West, Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks stars in "Runaway" portraying the aforementioned phoenix. Ebanks traveled to Prague to film the production and was effusive in her praise of West. She credited his artistic vision with giving her a sense of ease on the set.
"It's extremely easy to work with him, understanding that everything with him comes from an artistic standpoint, because he is an artist and he has this vision," Ebanks told MTV News. "I honestly was just so excited and honored that he even considered me for it."
Kanye West's "Runaway" will premiere on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on MTV, MTV2 and BET, and will also stream live on MTV.com, BET.com and VH1.com, followed by a live Q&A session on MTV and MTV.com.
