How to eat local in Hong Kong

local food in hong kong

It?s a weekend afternoon and for once you?ve decided to eat at home.

So you wander down to the nearest supermarket to pick up a chicken fillet, some broccoli and a few oranges for dessert. It?s a simple recipe for a home-cooked meal.

Except there are a lot of hidden problems.

The chicken? It?s from a factory farm in Brazil, where it?s pumped full of hormones to keep it fat and complacent.

The broccoli? Grown in China where it was sprayed with pesticides.

The oranges? They?re from Florida, and because they were picked too early so they could be shipped around the world, they?re dry and sour when you cut them open.

There?s a solution to all of these problems: eat local.

Justin Timberlake is no stranger to lending his voice to animated characters. The singer-turned-actor, who celebrated his birthday Monday (January 31), recently hit the big screen as Boo Boo Bear in the CGI film adaptation of "Yogi Bear." And in just a few weeks, fans will be able to catch JT voice a different kind of character in an upcoming episode of "The Cleveland Show," airing February 20 at 9:30 p.m. on Fox.

According to a press release, Timberlake's guest-starring episode will be called "Terry Unmarried" and revolve around two big revelations in Cleveland's personal life. Things take a turn when Cleveland discovers that his wife, Donna, never legally divorced her ex-husband, making their marriage illegitimate.

Soon after, he finds out that his best friend, Terry, is gay and has been dating a man named Paul (voiced by Timberlake). With the recent developments, the foursome decides to travel to Vermont for a double wedding ceremony. The episode also will feature Theodore (T-Pain) and Bernard (will.i.am) explaining to Cleveland's stepson Rallo why he should break a nasty habit.

In October, Fox reps confirmed to MTV News that Timberlake will voice two characters: Paul, the boyfriend of Terry, and a "singing booger," appropriately named Booger, who belongs to Rallo. Even though the episode has yet to air, the pop star has already earned himself a fan in "Cleveland" creator Rich Appel. Speaking with Us Weekly, the writer raved about the star's voice appearance, gushing, "Justin is just hysterical!"

Back in December, JT spoke about his decision to primarily focus on his long list of Hollywood projects. "They're looking at me like, 'Why aren't you staying with one path?' " the star told the Los Angeles Times, referring to fans' criticism to his shift in career avenues. "They look at me like I'm ungrateful for my music career because I want to do film."

Gucci Mane & Waka Flocka Flame, "Pattycake"

What a week: Weezy's free, TI isn't, Kanye West hurt Georgie's feelings, The Anthology of Rap is woefully inaccurate, Hammer hated on Jay, Cudi quit... Meanwhile, on Earth, Waka Flocka was relatively lauded by Pitchfork and Gucci Mane was jailed for driving shitty way too early in the morning but quickly (whew) released. So let us [...]

James Cameron Makes The Bond With Twitter, Flirts With Kim Kardashian

By Friday afternoon, about four hours after he joined Twitter, James Cameron had attracted almost 13,000 followers. The creative force behind Earth's two highest-grossing films has got a long, long way to go if he wants to unseat Lady Gaga (and her 7.9 million followers) as Twitter's most popular presence. But give the guy some credit. [...]

Justin Bieber's Next Album To Capture Justin Timberlake's Magic

Justin Bieber may have declined the chance to join Justin Timberlake's label, but according to a songwriter in the know, the former 'NSYNC crooner is the inspiration for the teen sensation's upcoming album.

Songwriter Sean "The Pen "Garrett, who has been working with Bieber on the follow-up to the chart-ruling My World 2.0., spoke with Billboard about the direction for the teen superstar's forthcoming album, saying the project will feature more grown-up fare.

"What we're trying to do with Justin is to segue him into young adulthood," Garrett said of the project, which is also slated to feature production from hitmaker Christopher "Tricky" Stewart. "The one great thing about Justin Bieber is the fact that his fans are going to grow with him. So we want all the fans that started out with him to still be intrigued and excited about him, but we want to also stretch out a little bit and make the fans that are 22-23 years old love Justin as well. When Justin Timberlake went from the last album of *N Sync to his first solo album -- I want to say [we're aiming for] that level. That's the bar for the type of song, that level of 'Cry Me a River,' big records."

Garrett, who has crafted records for stars like Chris Brown and Bieber's mentor Usher, also said he's hard at work on Beyoncé's next project. However, the songwriter didn't divulge too much information, only revealing that he's "been working with her extremely hard ... she's my favorite."

While Garrett said the plan for his next outing is to angle Bieber toward a swiftly maturing audience, Bieber himself has refused to categorize his music, insisting to MTV News in December that he's just focused on creating quality records.

"Whatever comes out of my mouth is just what you guys are going to hear," Bieber explained of his hits. "I don't know, it's not a specific type of music. Whatever music I write, I wouldn't say I'm pop or R&B or country or anything: I would just say it's just good music,"

What do you think Justin Bieber's new music is going to sound like? Let us know in the comments!
